The Group faced a particularly challenging quarter, marked by ongoing global economic weakness and heightened uncertainty from persistent trade and tariff tensions. Sales volumes were also impacted by the start-up of the Somerset Mill PM2 conversion and expansion project. These negative factors contributed to our Q3 2025 adjusted EBITDA being US$80 million. A key milestone for the quarter was the successful start-up of the Somerset Mill PM2 line in May. This investment enhances the region’s product offering and reinforces the long term competitiveness of Sappi’s North American operations. Read more at the link in the comments??

Now that’s what we call a happy dog! ?? It’s easy to see why Marina J?ger, our Sappi calendar competition winner for August, enjoys taking photographs for friends and family. We’re happy too – happy that she shared this playful portrait with us. It takes care and craft to catch a dog like that just being itself. “Photographing animals always takes time,” says Marina, Assistant to the Manager at our Gratkorn mill. “Only with time can you create a calm environment so that the animals are relaxed.” “The Australian Shepherd embodies agility, intelligence and drive,” she continues. “As an active, versatile breed, it reflects the energy and adaptability needed to keep up with the momentum of a thriving world.”

Shutdowns that spark progress! On KZN’s north coast, our Sappi Tugela and Stanger mills do more than produce linerboard, tissue and Typek paper — they help power local livelihoods and enterprise. During this year’s planned maintenance shutdowns, we prioritised both technical upgrades and meaningful community impact. ? Nearly 370 general and semi-skilled workers were sourced through local Integrated Community Forums (ICFs) ? Over R4.2 million invested into local SMEs through our Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme ? Support for inclusive, women-led businesses like Bonito Cleaning, who grew to 44 permanent staff and added 110 temporary jobs — 45% filled by women ? Local enterprises like Isizwe Samalanga in KwaDukuza employed 50 people during this time “Shutdowns are about more than machinery. They’re about enabling progress for people and communities.” – Philani Gumede, General Manager, Sappi Tugela Mill We’re proud to partner with passionate local entrepreneurs and community forums to ensure every shutdown creates shared value. #Sappi #sharedvalue #progress

In 1854, Samuel Dennis Warren founded the SD Warren Company and built a paper mill in Westbrook, Maine that would go on to invent coated paper in 1879, a breakthrough that transformed the printing industry. To honor this legacy, we recently restored a historic portrait of Mr. Warren. Painted in 1885 by renowned British artist Frank Holl—who also painted J.P. Morgan around the same time, a work now housed in the Morgan Library & Museum in New York—the portrait had significantly deteriorated over the years, showing signs of yellowed varnish, flaking paint, and surface grime. Thanks to the expert team at The Maine Project for Fine Art Conservation (Project MEAC), the painting was carefully cleaned and stabilized using museum-grade techniques, revealing the original depth and detail. The painting is now hanging in the library of Sappi's Technology Center in Westbrook, Maine. As part of an industry with deep roots and lasting relevance, we’re proud to see wood fiber-based products contribute more than ever to a healthier planet.
